Common questions about engagement.

What's included in the monthly retainer?
The retainer covers all engineering hours, project management, design (for Squad and above), DevOps setup, code reviews, and weekly demos. It does not include third-party infrastructure costs (AWS, OpenAI API, etc.), which are billed at cost with full transparency.
Can we change engagement size mid-project?
Yes. We ask for 30 days notice to scale down and can typically scale up within 2 weeks. Many clients start with a Strike Team, validate the partnership, then upgrade to a Squad once they're confident.
Do you offer fixed-price projects?
For well-scoped MVPs and prototypes with stable requirements, yes. We'll provide a fixed quote with clear deliverables and acceptance criteria. For long-term product development, we recommend the retainer model because roadmaps inevitably evolve.
What happens if we want to bring the work in-house?
We celebrate it. Every engagement includes documentation, runbooks, and architecture records that make in-housing straightforward. We also offer paid transition periods (typically 4-8 weeks) where we help hire and onboard your replacement team.
Are there any long-term contracts?
Most engagements are month-to-month with a 90-day initial commitment. For Embedded Org engagements, we typically sign 12-month master service agreements with quarterly checkpoints. Either party can exit with 60 days notice.
